A new job…

I’m excited to share that I’ve signed on as a correspondent with Mongabay.com through the Global Forest Reporting Network. It’s a great opportunity to tie some of the fantastic data now available at Global Forest Watch to what’s happening on the ground in the world’s tropical forests.

Here’s my first submission, on deforestation trends and new forestry laws in Cameroon. Keep an eye out for other pieces from journalists all over the world.

  1. Congrats on your new job John! I’ve shared your article with my colleagues at WRI who work on our degraded land and palm oil project. We submitted a proposal for a new project focusing on sustainable palm oil expansion in Cameroon earlier this year, but didn’t get it unfortunately. Looking forward to reading your future articles!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! I’d love any feedback, as I still have a lot to learn about palm oil. Hope you all are doing well!

  2. Once again, John, great work…congratulations on the new assignment. Already with eye opening information. I had a friend who worked for “California Oils’ (now part of Mitsubishi) for years and most of their palm oil product came out Indonesia,,,,,,I never even considered the cost to natural rain forest when he talked about the plantations. Best to you and AC.
